I'm trying to make an F/A-18C UFC like this:

Here

Now a while ago I bought 6 x "4 digit 16 segment" z, which happen to be common anode (DataSheet)

What i am looking for is a way to drive all 4 using the minimum of wires - I guess I prefer I²C (IIC) but will work with what ever I can use

  • Note: I tried something with a HT16K33 IC, but apparently that will only work with Common Cathode

Thank you, and please let me know if you need more info, or suggestions to clarify my question

  • Do you mean LED (light emitting diode) rather than LCD (liquid crystal display)? – Nick Gammon Oct 19 at 5:44

LCDs do not have anodes or cathodes – jsotola Oct 19 at 6:08
  • Please don't put links to external resources in your question, post the image directly. – the busybee Oct 19 at 7:12

Added Datasheet, or at least the only document, that was available, from supplier - that took some digging ;) – FedaykinWolf Oct 21 at 20:47

It might be easier to just get a new common cathode led display or get the whole board from Adafruit https://learn.adafruit.com/14-segment-alpha-numeric-led-featherwing

  • I agree; however, I would like to avoid the extra money spending, and to use the junk (as my wife names it) that I have – FedaykinWolf Oct 20 at 14:16
  • Also this is the only place that had stock in the size ang 16-seg I needed at the time, i searched for months – FedaykinWolf Oct 22 at 21:31
