I am building an rc airplane and I want the controller and the plane to communicate using 2 NRF24L01 +pa +lna modules. I am using an Arduino UNO and a Mega. I hooked them up corresponding to this website (https://howtomechatronics.com/tutorials/arduino/arduino-wireless-communication-nrf24l01-tutorial/). To program I am using this (https://github.com/nRF24/RF24) library from github. Then I run the GettinStarted sketch from the library on both of the Arduinos one of them with the role set to 0 and one of them with the role set to 1. Serial monitor for the transmitter:

Now sending

failed

Failed, response timed out.

And for the receiver:

*** PRESS 'T' to begin transmitting to the other node

Is there something I need to change or are the modules broken?

  • How close together are the modules? – Majenko Jun 3 at 11:56
  • They are like 15-20 cm apart. – AdamVarga Jun 3 at 12:15
  • That's probably your problem then. Move them apart. Meters apart. – Majenko Jun 3 at 12:15
  • I tried putting them 2 meters apart and still nothing.I also hooked a 100uF capacitor next to the nrf modules but that did not make any difference either. Then I switched the roles between the 2 modules. The serial output for the receiver stayed the same. The output for the transmitter changed to this: Now sending failed Sent 187465212, Got response 0, Round-trip delay 101264 microseconds. I assume from this that one of the modules is broken. Is this correct? – AdamVarga Jun 3 at 15:37

That sketch never worked for me also so try this:

  1. Check whether your power supply can give a constant 3.3V and a minimum of 0.5A(500mA)?
  2. Then try these connections: enter image description here
  3. Then try your code again.
  4. If it fails to work try a simpler library like the NRFLite library and

I actually never got that library and that sketch to work, but when I kept everything the same and used the NRFLite library, everything worked!
