I want to make a connection to the mobile data network with an Arduino in an area with low signal quality. For this I already bought a better antenna and I am using a simcard wich is open to every network. This has helped me a bit in getting a little more reliability into my connecitions. But there's still an element of luck involved. All too often I don't get any conection whereas my phone is perfectly fine. Even on the same position is sometimes works and sometimes id doesn't.

I'm using an Arduino MKR GSM 1400 right now but the standard library often just crashes because of under-voltage and makes the arduino unuseable because of too many connection-attempts I guess (infinite loop of AT+CREG).

So what would be your advice for getting an Arduino to work with mobile data as good as an ordinary phone does?
