I am have circuit with Arduino NANO and I need to control air valve, which is powered with 12 Volts and 0.8 Amper. Problem is that Arduino NANO is powered with 5 volts. I want to use transistor to achieve it. Which one the best option in this case ?

PS: I need ON/OFF states only.

PSS: I want to use transistor, not relay, because transistors are quicker.

    With the given specs, that's still a wide range. For a beginner I assume you want a discrete transistor (THT, through hole) , not an SMT (surface mounted) one. Next, you would choose between a NPN, PNP or MOSFET. Likely a MOSFET for the valve. – Thomas Weller Jul 15 '18 at 20:48
