I have just started working with Arduion project from scratch using esp8266 (AI-cloud inside) black module. Now I'm trying to flash the esp8266 using esptool.py I observed that the esp module gets erased successfully but gives the fatal error while performing write operation.

for more details about the steps I have taken follow the below statments

C:\Users\iSandeep>esptool.py --port COM3 erase_flash
esptool.py v2.3.1
Connecting.....
Detecting chip type... ESP8266
Chip is ESP8266EX

Hard resetting via RTS pin...

C:\Users\iSandeep>esptool.py --port COM3 --baud 115200 write_flash --flash_size=
detect 0 "D:\sw\Arduino\aTTEMPT 4\esp8266-20170108-v1.8.7.bin" --verify

Tutorial or instructions followed from here.

  • reset the esp8266 (power cycle) and then try the write operation without erase before it – Juraj Apr 24 '18 at 13:35
  • Tried it already, with the hard reset. but not working Is there any another way to do this, if you have any steps for such please do share. – iSandeep Apr 24 '18 at 13:43
  • do you have the RTS pin connected? try removing the baud parameter and the flash_size parameter – Juraj Apr 24 '18 at 13:50
  • RST pin is not connected, also removing baud and flash_size parameter is not working :( – iSandeep Apr 24 '18 at 14:15
  • can anyone suggest any alternative to do this? – iSandeep Apr 24 '18 at 14:16
