I want to use a RedBearLab Micro Blend micro-controller with an lipo battery and charge it with the built-in USB connector of the micro-controller. My question is how can I realize it when the datasheet says "Use either one power source at a time, otherwise you will damage the board":

Input Voltage

  • 5V (USB)
  • 3.3-12V (VIN)

Note: Use either one power source at a time, otherwise you will damage the board.

Can I use the USB port (cable) + VIN pin (battery)?

Is it possible to hook up, for instance, an LiPoly Backpack Add-On (e.g. Adafruit Pro Trinket LiIon/LiPoly Backpack Add-On)? I asked because I have concerns about two power sources (battery and USB) at a time.

Thank you for any help. I am also happy about any tips or recommendations for tiny power-management boards, which work fine with the RedBearLab Micro Blend and charge via the Micro Blend USB port.
