Aug 22, 2022 at 15:25 comment added timemage @Dakkaron I figured if their concern was going to be addressed it made sense to do it in the question title. I also think it's probably fine the way it is.
Aug 22, 2022 at 12:19 comment added Dakkaron @timemage From my understanding, that's what tags are there for. At least on Stackoverflow they tend to edit info like that away from the title. The device is prominently featured in the question, so no need for digging into the comments. Interesting fact about the ATMega4809. Haven't used that chip at all so far.
Aug 21, 2022 at 22:08 comment added timemage @Dakkaron I guess the idea is that you're asking about a specific board and anyone reading the answer will need to have read the question to understand the the answer only was intended to answer for the board in the question. I'm not sure what the likelihood is of anyone in that situation being inclined to read comments on the answer, but sure, I guess. If you want though you can just put "Pro Micro" in your question title: "Is it possible to remove the Pro Micro bootloader while flashing using the bootloader?"
Aug 21, 2022 at 21:54 comment added timemage The ATmega4809 doesn't support the protocol that Atmel/Microchip refer to as "ISP".
Aug 21, 2022 at 20:52 comment added Juraj @Dakkaron for example ATmega4809 used on Nano Every and Uno WiFi
Aug 21, 2022 at 20:43 comment added Dakkaron @Juraj: I had the ATMega32u4 both in the question and in the tag. Which new AVR MCUs do you refer to? I guess, you mean anything beyond the ATMega line? Your input is definitely valid.
Aug 21, 2022 at 6:38 comment added Juraj as the question title doesn't mention the MCU, I just want to add a note that this answer doesn't apply to all MCU. even on the new AVR MCUs the bootloader is not protected by default
