Yes, I realize that. But keep in mind, if you don't rely on a package manager to some extent you're usually a lost case as an admin. But duly noted, apparently I cannot trust that there are reasonably recent versions available via apt .

Side-note: I do know that there are still some issues in the code and it's not a faithful conversion of the linked code, yet. Problem is that I got stuck with the typedef , a seemingly trivial thing.
