Jun 20, 2014 at 5:17 comment added sherrellbc Read up on LEDs here. There is a lot to consider even for driving these simple devices. Namely, forward voltage and active-mode current are very important. Driving LEDs without a series (current limiting) resistor will surely end your experimentation sooner than later. Either you will burn out the LED or you will destroy one of your Arduino's output pins.
